Hillary Clinton: America's Lady Macbeth

A good label for Hitlery. I wish I had thought of it!

With all of her deliberate reckless ignorance of the law, willingness to cover for her philandering husband, and her possible involvement in a murder or three (the list goes on and on, too much to recount here. Try here instead), there is no way this woman should be allowed to become President of the United States.

A good article on the subject from Times Online

Continuation of Politics by Other Means

This weekend in Washington, D.C., there will be a major rally of thousands of barking moonbat pox-faced sons of whores to protest the war in Iraq . The usual suspects including vacuous professional pretenders from Hollywood and their friends the castrati luminaries from our Federal government are scheduled to be in attendance. And the righteous indignation shall flow.

The estimates for the number of attendees will be inflated, and the protest will be made to seem a huge success; a representation of the true feelings of the majority of Americans.

By the way, the word majority needs some discussion, especially in relation to the popular word democracy. A Democracy seeks a majority on all issues. It is the essence of Mob Rule. These words, democracy and majority are often thrown about in reference to our system of government. To those of you with a civics deficit, we do not have a democracy (gasp!). We are a representative republic. We use a democratic system to elect our representatives. And our president is the Commander-in-Chief of our military (N.B.- the movie U-571 has a scene where the ranking officer is in a dispute with a subordinate, whom he punches in the face and says: "This is not a goddamn democracy!"). The President decides when to flex our military muscle, not the testicle-challenged milquetoasts in congress.

In summary, should we have this protest in D.C. this weekend? Yes, please. They will demonstrate to the world once more what a spineless idiot looks like.

More Bruce Campbell

If You Build It, They Will Come.

Can this be for real? A Florida city plans to build a "homeless-only" village . They are intending to house 5,600 homeless people. But there are only 2,500 (more or less) homeless people in Volusia county, where the "village" will be built. Huh?

If this thing is built, it will shame Sodom and Gomorrah. Every degenerate lowlife within hundreds of miles will flock to it like flies to shit. But the planners have a different opinion:

"This is for the people who can't work and can't integrate themselves into society," Arth said. "The answer is not to build a Hooverville of tents and trailers but to make these buildings attractive enough so that if you or I would went [sic] there, we would say, 'Wow, I'd live there.'"

Uh, No.

On this day in 1920, one of our Nation's greatest governmental blunders took place. The production, importation, sale, or consumption of alcoholic beverages was prohibited. This lead to moonshine, speakeasies, and exploding bottles of homemade hootch. It also lead to rampant crime surrounding the black market activity that sprang up. Thankfully, people came to their senses and repealed the constitutional amendment in 1933. Since alcohol was no longer illegal, the criminal activity resulting from its prohibition disappeared virtually overnight.

I am reminded of our decades-long "War on Drugs." Are we not essentially in the same situation? Drug addiction is more effectively treated as a medical problem than as a criminal one. Check out the Issues in Science and Technology article, which refers to a RAND Institute study about crime and cocaine use.

Thanks to for the tip.

Can We Send Ash to Iraq?

Just the surge we need!

Minimum Wage Mumbo Jumbo

The House of Representatives voted today to raise the federal minimum wage, with more than 80 Republicans tagging along.

Do these knuckleheads not realize that labor is a commodity? Someone of modest, or even rudementary, economics education would realize this obvious fact. What happens when the market price of a commodity is raised? Anyone? (Bueller?) The demand decreases. In this scenario, the market price (minimum wage) is increased on the commodity (labor) causing the demand (jobs) to decrease. Simple.

But there is also a "ripple" or "trickle" effect, whichever word may presently be in fashion. If employers are forced to pay their minimum wage employees more, and cannot do without their labor, they must pass this added expense to the consumer in the form of a higher price.

And let us not forget the beloved labor unions (remember the Longshoremen's strike? A union job that does not even require a high school education, and pays over $100 k a year? And it still is not enough). There is this thingie called union wage scale. When the minimum wage is increased, the union scale must be increased as well, or the labor union bosses will get a hair across their collective ass. And the Democrat Party is beholden to the labor unions.

And as far as a so-called living wage is concerned: Minimum wage was never meant to be a living wage. It was meant to be a low-risk way that an employer could test an employee over a probationary period to decide if the employee was worth keeping or not. If yes, the new employee would quickly be given a raise. If not, they would be given a pink slip and shown the door. Incedentally, there are only about haf a million people in the United States making minimum wage, and many of them are students with part-time jobs or on summer break.

Do not forget the result of raising the minimum wage: Higher prices for goods and services, and fewer jobs to go around. Sounds great!

Saddam's New Necktie

In case you have not already seen it:

All Ears in Boston

The City of Boston is seriously considering buying an acoustic detection system to track gunshots, with the intention of reducing homicides and gunshot injuries.

The intent, as with all liberal endeavors, is well-meaning. But good intentions do not get the job done. Boston, as even a casual observer will agree, is a liberal town with highly restrictive firearms laws. A concealed carry permit is virtually unobtainable for the average citizen. Honest people are prohibited from owning and carrying firearms which would protect them from the armed criminals in their midst. It works every time it is tried: Allow law-abiding citizens to arm themselves, and violent crime decreases dramatically. The criminals will think twice about giving up their lives for whatever criminal enterprise in which they may be engaged.

Another thing about liberal endeavors: Almost without exception, they are colossal money wasters. Will this acoustic bang-bang detector actually work? The manufacturer says it does, that it can even tell the type and caliber of firearm being shot. I would wager that it can't tell the difference between a car backfiring, a balloon popping, or an extremely loud fart.
